Welcome to Mickley Bed and Breakfast. An exceptionally affordable, comfortable, and child & dog friendly B&B near Ripon.

Mickley B&B is in Herriot country (All Creatures Great and Small), only 15 miles from Thirsk’s The World of James Herriot and just 5 miles from Ripon. We have the Mickley entrance to the celebrated Hackfall Wood only 350 yards from our front door.

Dame Judi Dench's seal of approval on Hackfall wood... see 'Attractions and Dining' above.

We look after all our guests in the manner which they would like to become accustomed - and everyone is welcome.

A big welcome, our doors are open to everyone. But if you like loud music, clubbing, parties and noisy pubs, then I'm afraid this B & B is not for you! We are in a warm and welcoming log-burning house, in a small village on the bank of the River Ure. Mickley's freehold properties enjoy the ancient Manorial Privilege of 'Court Leet', which owns small areas of land and include fishing rights on certain stretches of the river.

Mickley is 5 miles North West of Ripon and Ripon is, we believe, the oldest and the smallest city in England. Tradition has it that the Town Crier blows his horn every evening at 21:00 to signify the setting of the watch.

From Mickley, most of North Yorkshire’s history and culture (lots of non history and culture too!), cities, towns, historic houses, stately homes, theatres, gardens, galleries, walking, cycling, fun and adventure, and the dramatic countryside of both the North York moors and the Yorkshire dales are all within easy distance. For the more adventurous, we even have Lightwater Valley Theme Park, with Europe’s longest roller coaster, 3 miles away; the Mickley entrance to the legendary Hackfall Wood is only 350 yards up the road, and you can have an exploratory day’s canoeing or kayaking on the River Ure. There is something for everyone.

We welcome you in to our home; nothing is too much trouble and we will endeavour to make your stay here as easy and as comfortable as possible. Home from home - whether you are taking a few days’ action-packed holiday or whether you need somewhere quiet to base yourself for business or even just a couple of days self-indulging primetime.

Up to 10pm the night before, we can get you a newspaper of your choice for you to read with your breakfast.

By prior arrangement, we would be delighted to cook you your evening meal.

Only very well behaved children and dogs welcome!
